How to use a hand-wound watch

A hand-wound wristwatch is powered by the unwinding force of the mainspring.
If you leave it without wearing it, the mainspring will stretch out and stop.
*The power reserve (the amount of time it takes for the mainspring to fully stretch) varies depending on the watch.
It is necessary to wind the mainspring by hand before using it.

When winding the mainspring or adjusting the time and date, use the protrusion on the side of the case called the crown.

The protrusion of the red circle is the crown.

* Depending on the model, the crown may be a screw-in type.
In the case of the screw-in type, it has a structure like a cap, so
Please turn the crown forward (6 o'clock side) and operate it from the loosened state.

There is no need to loosen the crown if it is a non-screw type.

How to wind the mainspring

Turn the crown forward (12 o'clock direction) to wind up the mainspring.
The mainspring will not wind up even if it is turned in the opposite direction.
Please use it after turning it about 20 to 30 times from the stopped state.
A hand-wound watch may stop winding (the mainspring is fully wound).
If the winding stops, the crown cannot be turned.
If you force it to turn from there, the mainspring will break.
If it stops winding, please use it as it is.

How to adjust the time

Crown image

The crown is raised.

When the crown is pulled out one step (two steps for models with a date), the crown is in the time adjustment position.
*Some models use the first step to adjust the time and the second step to adjust the date.
Turn the crown to move the hands and set the time.
Move the time only in the forward direction.
Moving it in the rewinding direction may cause malfunction.

How to adjust date

Some models have a date display.
When adjusting the date, be sure to set the time to 5:00 to 6:00 (regardless of AM or PM).
If the date is changed manually when the time is around 12:00 PM, it may malfunction due to the meshing of the gears.
When the crown is pulled out one step, the crown is in the date adjustment position.
*Some models use the first step to adjust the time and the second step to adjust the date.
Turn the crown to set the date to the previous day .
Change the crown to the time adjustment position and advance the time beyond 12:00 AM.
After 12:00 a.m., the date will change to the current day, so please set the time from there.

*This is only a typical operation method.
Some special models or those with special functions may operate differently.
Please be sure to read the instruction manual before use.

If you have an individual that does not come with an instruction manual, please contact the stock store.
We will explain how to use it.
